ISLAMABAD Former ISI commander Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hamid’s military trial has been on pause for the last three weeks, according to his lawyer, who said on Wednesday that he hopes the trial would soon restart.
Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq stated in an interview with The News that the proceedings had been on hold for the past three weeks. “We expect them to resume soon, possibly any day,” he stated.
In light of Gen (R) Faiz’s scheduled trip overseas next month, Ashfaq, who is in charge of his legal team along with two partners, stated that they had formally asked for the process to be finished sooner. “Given my family vacation abroad after about a month, we have requested early conclusion of proceedings,” he stated.
