Washington: Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, made scathing comments that prompted US President Donald Trump to halt his intentions to lift sanctions on the country, stating that he would contemplate bombing it once more if it continued to enrich uranium to dangerous levels.
Trump said that the remarks were filled with hate and rage and that he immediately stopped attempts to relax sanctions and boost Iran’s recovery.
Trump reacted forcefully to Khamenei’s opening statements after a 12-day war with Israel that ended last Saturday with American attacks on Iranian nuclear installations.
In response to the US bombing, Khamenei said Iran had “slapped America in the face” by hitting a significant US installation in Qatar. Iran would never give up, he added.
