Beijing said the visit will emphasize ties as a “anchor of stability” in a world in turmoil. China’s top diplomat is scheduled to go to Europe on Monday.
During his tour, Wang Yi will visit France, Germany, and the European Union’s headquarters in Brussels as China looks to strengthen ties with the bloc as a counterbalance to rival superpower the United States.
However, there are still significant economic tensions, such as the enormous $357.1 billion trade gap between China and the EU, and Beijing’s strong connections with Russia in spite of Moscow’s conflict in Ukraine.
“Unilateralism, protectionism, and bullying are on the rise, and the world is seeing a century-old transformation at a faster pace.
