Azma Bukhari, Punjab’s information minister, attacked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) administration on Saturday for what she called the “utterly inhumane” handling of the victims of the Swat River catastrophe. She accused the authorities of conveying the dead in dumpers that carried garbage.
Speaking at a Punjab Assembly session, Bukhari claimed that the victims, who were Sialkot, Punjab, tourists who perished in the Swat River surge, were not only let down by the rescue personnel but also denied a dignified death.
“The most shameful thing is that rescue workers were unable to get to them in time, and after they found the bodies, they brought them to Punjab using a dumper, which is a vehicle used to move trash,” she said.
