Azhar Mahmood, a former all-rounder, was named the acting red-ball head coach of the Pakistan Men’s team by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday.
Mahmood will remain in this position till his present contract expires in April 2026. Pakistan is expected to play two Test series during this time.
“[Azhar] Mahmood is an accomplished cricketer who brings a wealth of experience to the position. The PCB highlighted Mahmood’s vast coaching and playing experience in a press release, saying, “Azhar has long been a pivotal part of the team’s strategic core, having served as the assistant head coach of the national side.”
