A statewide notice has been issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in anticipation of a strong monsoon spell that is expected to strike the nation from July 6 to July 10.
Strong gusts, thunderstorms, and torrential rains could cause landslides, urban flooding, and major disruptions, the NDMA said.
The NDMA predicts that this year’s monsoon season will have above-normal rainfall, with Sindh, south Punjab, and Balochistan designated as high-risk regions.
During the time of severe weather, the authorities have cautioned the public to exercise caution and refrain from needless travel.
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Lahore, Kasur, and Okara are all expected to see heavy rains and thunderstorms, according to the NDMA forecast.
