Clara Kolouchova, a Czech woman climber, died during an expedition on Nanga Parbat after an oxygen cylinder apparently exploded during the ascent.
Kolouchova disappeared early Friday morning when she and another climber ascended the mountain’s Diamer Face from Base Camp to Camp 2.
The deadly tragedy was triggered by the explosion of her oxygen cylinder, according to her teammate who confirmed her death upon returning to Base Camp.
The sad event happened during an ongoing trip that started last month and comprised a group of international climbers who were trying to reach the top of the ninth-highest peak in the world, Nanga Parbat.
Authorities in Diamer sent ground rescue teams, including local high-altitude porters, to Base Camp after receiving the information.
