Sardar Muhammad Yousuf, the federal minister for religious affairs, vehemently refuted reports on Friday that hundreds of Pakistani pilgrims are missing overseas, stating that the assertions are based on an inaccurate interpretation of the statistics.
The minister clarified to the media that the misunderstanding resulted from out-of-date documentation. The claim that thousands of Pakistanis are missing was never made. Approximately 40,000 pilgrims’ details were previously kept on paper and have not yet been completely moved to the central digital registry, Sardar Yousuf explained.
According to the minister, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has implemented a state-of-the-art online registration system to improve the security and ease of pilgrims from Pakistan, particularly those going to Iran, Iraq, and Syria.
