ISLAMABAD According to representatives of the international watchdog, the Indian government has presented the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) with recent statements made by Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), as proof against Pakistan.
FATF officials claim that New Delhi has used the comments as official evidence to back up its claim that Islamabad aids terrorist groups.
Gandapur recently stated, “We arrest the Taliban, but our own institutions get them released, claiming they are their people.” This statement is expressly cited in the Indian reply.
India is now using the comments, which caused domestic backlash, to ask for Pakistan to be added back to the FATF’s “increased monitoring” list, also referred to as the “grey list.”
