ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed concern about the flood-like conditions in several parts of Islamabad brought on by the heavy overnight rainfall that forced storm drains to overflow and created significant urban flooding in residential areas.
In Kuri village, floodwaters ruined standing crops, damaged property, submerged cars, and entered homes, according to officials.
Rainwater rushing down from the Margalla Hills was the main cause of flooding, causing local streams to overflow in the early morning.
In response, the prime minister gave the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and district administration instructions to start rescue efforts right away, make sure that water drains, and take precautions in low-lying areas close to rivers and nullahs.
