MOSCOW: According to a person engaged in the visit’s planning, Russia’s investment envoy Kirill Dmitriev met US special envoy Steve Witkoff at the airport upon his arrival in Moscow, Reuters reported on Wednesday.
Witkoff may visit Moscow this week, according to prior statements made by US President Donald Trump, who threatened to put sanctions on Russia if Moscow did not agree to a truce in the war in Ukraine by Friday.
Witkoff will meet the Russian authorities on Wednesday, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Tuesday.
It will take time for US-Russia relations to improve.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told the Russian TASS that it will take time to improve ties between Russia and the United States.
