PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was prevented from pursuing further action against the disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPs on Wednesday by the Peshawar High Court (PHC).
The PHC granted temporary respite in a two-page ruling to PTI lawmakers who had petitioned the court to contest the ECP’s decision to disqualify them after their conviction in the May 9 riots case.
Before postponing the hearing to August 20, the high court sent notices to the election commission and other parties, stating its reserved verdict on the appeals made by Shibli Faraz and Omar Ayub Khan of the PTI.
