Hassan Fadlallah, a senior Hezbollah official and member of parliament, stated on Thursday that Israel would suffer retaliation for two raids on southern Lebanon the day before that killed ten people, half of whom were children.
“The enemy (Israel) will pay the price for these crimes,” Fadlallah told Reuters, speaking about the powerful Iran-backed armed group’s retaliation to the bloodiest day for civilians in Lebanon since hostilities erupted along its southern border.
Hezbollah has been exchanging fire with the Israeli military for more than four months in support of its Palestinian affiliate Hamas, which launched a devastating attack on Israel on October 7 and was met with an Israeli land, air, and sea assault on Gaza.
Hezbollah claims their rockets are also deterring Israel.
