MULTAN: A decaying three-story structure collapsed in Multan’s Mohalla Jawadian near Haram Gate on Tuesday, killing at least nine persons, three of them women, and injuring two more.
According to Rescue 1122’s District Emergency Officer, Dr Kaleem Ullah, they received a report about the disaster at 3:30 a.m., and the teams went to the scene to begin the rescue operations.
DEO Kaleem stated that a total of 11 persons were trapped under the debris after the building fell, nine of whom died. Meanwhile, two of them were being treated at Nishtar Hospital and were in critical condition, he said.
He further mentioned that seven of the deceased belonged to the same family. According to the district administration, the dead include children aged 12 to 15 years old.
The victims were named as Danish (15), Faheem Abbas (40), Ameer Ali (12), Waseem (14), Sanoobar (40), Bukhtawar Ameen (18), and Komal (13).
Furthermore, Waqar and Mussarat Bibi suffered critical injuries and were sent to the hospital.
“The rescue operation has been completed,” said DEO Kaleem.
