Now, the presenter acknowledges that the enormous expenses put her in debt in a new documentary that follows Draper’s last year of life.
“Derek’s care costs more than my salary from the news, and that is before you pay for a mortgage, before you pay any household bills, before you pay for anything for the kids, so we are at a crunch point,” Garraway says on the program.
“I owe money. I am managing Derek’s care, so I can’t make enough money to pay off my debt, and I can’t even use what little money I do have to help Derek recuperate because it’s taking so long.
