In response to accusations of forced disappearances of residents, the government of Balochistan issued a clarification in which it unequivocally denied the existence of “thousands of missing persons’ cases.”
The provincial government stated that the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances did not have “thousands” of cases pertaining to missing persons, but rather that the commission was operational and had also identified a few spurious cases.
According to the spokesman, the government’s primary priority is finding a solution to the missing individuals’ problems. It stated that “a family can contact the commission directly if it believes that a member is missing.”
It went on to say that some of the people on the missing persons list were discovered to have been involved in a few terror-related activities.
