The US is requesting the extradition of WikiLeaks’ founder from the UK in order to prosecute him on 17 counts of espionage and one count of computer abuse over the classified material that his website published nearly fifteen years ago.
In February, American government barristers argued at London’s High Court that Assange went “considerably beyond” the journalist’s function of information gathering.
They said that harm might have come to innocent persons, many of whom “lived in war zones or under repressive regimes”.
Judges of the High Court stated last month that Assange will be permitted to file a fresh lawsuit after the hearing.
