The chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has emphasized the need to discard outdated, traditional politics, warning that the next prime minister will not be able to govern the nation if we keep up the current course.
“There will not be any difference until we make this decision,” Bilawal continued in her Tuesday speech to the Lahore High Court Bar Association.
The former foreign minister held the view that if politicians continued with old politics, whoever became the prime minister would not be able to run the country, and as a result, the economic challenges facing the country would not be overcome.
Bilawal recalled that the founder of the PTI had once declared he would not speak to anyone and that he would rather kill himself than have conversations with crooks. “Perhaps, at the time, accusing others of theft was wrong.”
Bilawal expressed gratitude to all the judges, chief among them Pakistan’s Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, for accepting the presidential reference that former President Asif Zardari had sent 12 years prior, asking for a reexamination of the trial that resulted in the hanging of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (ZAB), the founding chairman of the PPP and one of the most well-liked prime ministers in the nation.
