A government minister revealed to the British media that a significant hack has targeted Britain’s Ministry of Defense.
Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride said on Tuesday that even though the hack happened on an outside company’s system, it was still a “very significant matter” to News, which first broke the story.
According to News , it was directed at a third-party payroll system that the Defence Ministry used and contained the bank account information and identities of both active and retired military personnel.
Later in the day, more information is anticipated to be provided to parliament by Defence Secretary Grant Shapps.
“The Ministry of Defence, or MoD, quickly removed this database from the internet. It is undoubtedly a third-party database.
