After this week’s US PGA Championship at Valhalla, talks between the 48-year-old former world number one and the PGA of America will resume.
Woods made a suggestion on Tuesday that he might not be able to dedicate the time necessary to lead the US against Europe at Bethpage in 2025 because of his involvement in attempts to arrange a deal between the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).
Seth Waugh, the chief executive of the PGA of America, stated on Wednesday, “We want to give him and the committee space to decide how it plays out.”
The US will be aiming to exact revenge in New York in September 2025 after being soundly defeated 16½–11½ by Europe in Rome last September.
