On Monday, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak apologized in parliament after the Infected Blood Inquiry released its final report into the incident, blaming failures on “successive governments, the NHS, and blood services.”.
It will be up to Paymaster General John Glen to reveal what compensation package anyone affected will now be entitled to.
However, Mr Sunak assured MPs that “comprehensive compensation to those infected and affected” will be provided, and that “whatever it costs to deliver this scheme, we will pay it.”
Since the 1970s, 30,000 people have contracted HIV or Hepatitis through tainted blood products and transfusions.
