ISLAMABAD: On Saturday, Pakistan praised the International Court of Justice’s (IJC) verdict regarding the Gaza War and demanded that the court’s injunctions against Israel’s offensive in Rafah be implemented “immediately and unconditionally.”
In a statement issued today, the Foreign Office said: “Pakistan welcomes the additional provisional measures by the ICJ ordering Israel to immediately halt its military offensive in Rafah in conformity with its obligations under the Genocide Convention and the worsening deteriorating humanitarian conditions faced by civilians.”
Islamabad has also insisted on the full and prompt execution of the most recent ICJ rulings in addition to the rulings from January 26 and March 28.
The ICJ ordered Tel Aviv to immediately cease its military offensive and any further measures in response to the FO’s statements.
The court further ordered that the Rafah border crossing remain open for unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid and basic services that are desperately required.
The court has also called on Israel to submit a report to the court on all measures taken to give effect to this order within one month of the order’s date. The report should highlight the effective measures to ensure unhindered access to the Gaza Strip for any commission of inquiry, fact-finding mission, or other investigative body mandated by competent organs of the United Nations to investigate allegations of genocide.
