Cement prices in Pakistan’s northern towns have increased noticeably over the last week, but they have remained stable in the country’s southern areas.
The average retail price per sack of cement in northern cities was Rs 1,254, up 2.96 percent from Rs 1,217 the week before, according to statistics from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
In contrast, cement prices in southern cities remained stable, with an average retail price per bag of cement standing at Rs 1,199, unchanged from the previous week’s numbers.
An analysis of prices across several cities shows that the average price per sack was Rs 1,222 in Islamabad, Rs 1,228 in Gujranwala, and Rs 1,273 in Lahore.
The average retail price per sack in southern towns like Quetta was Rs 1,195, Hyderabad was Rs 1,180, and Karachi was Rs 1,166. These figures show that prices were stable from the previous week.
The varying costs of cement could have an effect on consumer spending and building projects in the corresponding areas.
