In response to a drop in wheat rates, the Lahore municipal administration has announced a substantial reduction in the cost of bakery bread, also referred to as double roti.
According to Deputy Commissioner Raifa Haider, a 750-gram loaf of bread now costs Rs180 in Lahore instead of the previous Rs220 or Rs230. The cost of the 400-gram smaller bread loaf has also been lowered to Rs 90. These new rates go into effect right now.
A number of goods have seen price decreases as a result of the drop in wheat prices. The state government recently lowered the price of “Tandoori roti” to Rs15 per loaf.
In addition, the Utility Stores Corporation declared that the price of ghee will drop starting on Tuesday, May 28.
While non-subsidized ghee is priced at Rs445 per kilogram, the new subsidized price is Rs375 per kilogram, a savings of Rs18.
Regular consumers would pay Rs445 per kilogram of ghee, while those registered under the Benazir Income Support Program will benefit from a subsidized price of Rs375 per kilogram.
These steps are intended to lessen the financial strain that customers face in the face of shifting market conditions.
