DUBAI: To assist followers of the Hindu and Jain faiths, Sindh Tourism Minister Zulfiqar Ali Shah stated on Thursday that a religious corridor like to Kartarpur may be constructed in the province on the Pakistan-India border.
Speaking at a tourism-related event in Dubai, Shah suggested that the corridor may be constructed through Umarkot and Nagarparkar, the latter of which is home to several ancient Jain temples.
He informed that hordes of Jains and Hindus were eager to travel to Sindh.
Shah proposed that the Sindh government start offering religious visitors a weekly flight from India to Sukkur or Larkana.
One of the oldest Hindu temples in Sindh is the Shri Shiv Mandir, located in Umarkot.
There are many who think it was built almost 2,000 years ago. However, a local leader of the Hindu community asserted in an interview with an international news agency that it was as old as 5,000 years.
Meanwhile, Nagarparkar is home to a large number of abandoned Jain temples.
