An improvised explosive device (IED) that struck the security forces’ vehicle in the Lakki Marwat district on Sunday resulted in the deaths of seven Pakistan Army troops, including a captain, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to the military’s media wing, the event happened in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district on June 9 (today).

As a result, according to the ISPR, Captain Muhammad Faraz Ilyas, 26, of the Kasur district, and six other soldiers—Subedar Major Muhammad Nazir, 50, of the Skardu district; Lance Naik Muhammad Anwar, 34, of the Ghanchi district; Lance Naik Hussain Ali, 36, of the Ghizer district; Sepoy Asad Ullah, 33, of the Multan district; Sepoy Manzoor Hussain, 27, of the Gilgit district; and Sepoy Rashid Mehmood, 31, of the Rawalpindi district—made the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat.

It further stated that the region is being sanitized in order to remove any terrorists from the area and that anyone responsible for this horrible act would face consequences.

The ISPR reported on May 26 that two troops, including a captain in the Pakistan Army, accepted martyrdom last month during an intelligence-based operation carried out by the security forces in the Hassan Khel area of the Peshawar province.

The “reported presence of terrorists” in the vicinity prompted the start of the operation.

It also stated that the military “effectively engaged” with the terrorists throughout the operation, killing five of them and wounding three more.
