A joint political strategy was announced when a delegation from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) visited the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) in Lahore early in November. The PML-N referred to this as a “electoral alliance,” but the MQM-P was quick to refute this and state that the partnership was only a plan for “seat adjustment.”
The fact that the meeting resulted in two distinct statements speaks volumes about the sloppiness, laziness, and incoherence of today’s politics and political culture in the nation. The two parties also restated that a charter of resolutions will be drafted by a six-member committee over the course of the next ten days; this information has not been made public as of the writing of this article.
