Advocate Safdar Shaheen on behalf of Citizen Mazhar Abbas filed a petition opposing the strike, claiming that it was sparked by a fire at Sahiwal Teaching Hospital. Since June 15, the Young Doctors Association (YDA) has been on strike, which has caused medical services in government hospitals to be disrupted.
The petitioner said that patients are being forced to seek care elsewhere due to the great inconvenience caused by the strike. The striking doctors are worsening patient misery by failing to perform their jobs, even though they receive compensation from the public coffers.
In the petition, it is requested that the Young Doctors Association be ordered by the High Court to immediately terminate their strike and return to their medical duties.
