The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has cautioned students about degrees earned from unapproved sub-campuses of public sector universities after noting academic irregularities and upholding educational quality.
According to a “Parent and Student Alert” post on its official Instagram account, degrees earned from unapproved sub-campuses will not be recognized by the HEC.
It stated, “At this time, the HEC has not authorized any university or degree-granting institution to operate through sub-campuses under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode.”
The statement went on, “HEC does not endorse any such proposals due to a range of issues, such as academic irregularities and concerns regarding educational quality, that were previously observed in permitted PPP campuses established by certain public sector universities in Punjab and subsequently closed.”
The commission recommended against applying to any campus that isn’t marked as “Recognised” on the HEC website. “HEC will not validate degrees obtained from unapproved campuses for verification/attestation,” the statement stated in its conclusion.
