Ahmed Farhad, a poet, was granted post-arrest bail by Muzaffarabad High Court Chief Justice Sadaqat Hussain Raja, subject to the requirement of Rs0.2 million in surety bonds.
The Chief Justice of the Muzaffarabad High Court said during the hearing that Ahmed Farhad had to receive the sentence because of the judiciary’s corruption.
Judges in the modern period check to see whether the news is in the media, much like politicians do. There is a sense that the Azad Kashmiri legal system is absurd. We have our own legal system and are a little state called Azad Kashmir,” he said.
Ahmed Farhad’s wife was identified by the Chief Justice of the Muzaffarabad High Court, who said, “Tell your husband that he should indeed express his feelings.”
Ahmed Farhad need to limit his writing to poetry alone—not journalism, the CJ Muzaffarabad High Court advised.
Ahmed Farhad, a poet from Kashmir, was detained on Wednesday at the Kohala checkpost, according to earlier reports from Azad Jammu and Kashmir police. After that, he was moved to the Dhirkot police station, where a complaint has been made against him.
Farhad was detained for reportedly misbehaving with the police officers assigned to the checkpost and meddling in official matters, according to the police complaint. When questioned, Farhad said that at the time of his detention, he was traveling from Islamabad to Bagh.
According to the police, Farhad’s activities interfered with official business, which is why they detained him and charged him at the Dhirkot police station.
