Mercury reaches 40.5°C as PMD advises public to exercise caution when going outside

KARACHI: The city’s temperature reached 40.5°C on Wednesday, feeling as though it reached 56°C, leaving the citizens of the metropolis sweating in the intense heat.

Due to unfavorable weather, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned the public to use caution when venturing outside, emphasizing that the temperature is expected to drop starting tomorrow.

The Met Office reports that the city’s highest temperature was 40.5°C between 2 and 3 p.m., which felt like 56°C because there were no longer any sea breezes. At 5 p.m., the humidity level was 66%.

It further stated that the feel-like temperature was 53°C, with the current temperature in Karachi being 36.5°C and the humidity at 66%.According to the weather forecast department, sea breezes will begin to blow across Karachi starting on Thursday night, bringing the temperature down to 36°C to 38°C.

It had previously stated that today’s high temperature in the city will reach 41 °C, with the possibility of dust storms and light rain in a few areas.
