PESHAWAR: A senior Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government official cautioned the federal government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that if the province’s debts are not paid, it cannot expect it to be able to fulfill its commitment to the surplus budget.
Advisor to Chief Minister on Finance Muzzammil Aslam told News on Saturday that the Centre should not expect KP to fulfill its pledge of a surplus budget if it does not supply the necessary money.
In May of this year, the provincial administration revealed an annual budget of Rs1,754 billion for the fiscal year 2024–25, with a surplus of Rs100 billion.
For the fiscal year 2024–2025, the budget allocated Rs 1,654 billion in expenses and predicted receiving a total of Rs 1,754 billion under various headings, including Rs 1212.036 billion.
