In the ICC ODI rankings, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has risen to the second spot and is drawing nearer to Pakistan’s white-ball captain, Babar Azam.
Babar continues to lead the list of ODI batters, but he now faces new opposition from Rohit and Sri Lankan right-hander Pathum Nissanka.
Nissanka rose to ninth spot after hitting 101 runs in the same series, while Rohit overtook colleague Shubman Gill with a series-best 157 runs against Sri Lanka.
During that ODI series, Sri Lanka defeated India for the first time since 1997, ending a 27-year skid. On the most recent ranking, Kusal Mendis moved up five spots to a joint 39th position, and Avishka Fernando moved up 20 spots to a 68th position.
