When GQ asked the 63-year-old US actor if he should let the 61-year-old Reservoir Dogs director know he’s available for casting, he said that he was “a little irritated” with him.
Speaking about you [Pitt] and another person, Clooney remarked, “He [Tarantino] did an interview where he was listing movie stars. And then this guy goes, ‘Well, what about George?'”
“‘He’s hardly a movie star,’ he says. Then he uttered something like, “Name me a movie that came out since the year 2000.” And I thought to myself, “Since the year 2000? That’s pretty much my entire f career.”
Although it’s unclear to which interview Tarantino is alluding, Clooney has previously declared that actors playing superheroes in Marvel movies are “not movie stars”.
Clooney continued, “So now I’m like, all right, dude, f*** off,” after Pitt had laughed. I have no problem giving him crap. He treated me like garbage.
However, let’s face it—we’re extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to collaborate with such amazing directors. The screenplay and director are what keep you alive.
“And after working on some really awful movies, I discovered that.” A poor script cannot be turned into a good movie. It is not possible for you. A strong screenplay can be turned into a bad movie. You’re capable of screwing things up.
