In light of the federal government’s consideration of expanding the Supreme Court’s bench, government member Daniyal Chaudhry has drafted a private member’s bill.
The administration has chosen to raise the number of justices on the Supreme Court from 19 to 23, according to sources who spoke with Aaj News.
It is expected that the intended bill will be submitted during the next Private Members’ Day. They also said that a modification to the 1997 Act would increase the number of judges.
As ad hoc judges of the Supreme Court, retired justices Sardar Tariq Masood and Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel were sworn in last month by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa.
