On Friday, the federal cabinet resolved to defer the discussion of shutting down the Public Works Department (PWD) until its subsequent meeting.
A review of the incentive program intended to increase foreign exchange reserves was agreed during the meeting presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Furthermore, the cabinet had approved the start of talks between China and Pakistan Railways regarding financial assurance for the ML-1 improvement project.
It was instructed that at a later session, the proposed ML-1 finance agreement be brought forward for cabinet approval. Sources claim that the premier decided to push back the PWDF topic without engaging in a debate during the present meeting, directing that a decision on its closure be taken at the next meeting.
