The federal government has addressed remarks made recently by Dr. Qaiser Bengali, a prominent member of the federal government committee on right-sizing, who resigned on Saturday.
The government spokeswoman made it clear that the right-sizing plan, which aims to drastically cut government spending, extends to grade 22 and does not just apply to postings up to grade 16.
Under the direction of the Federal Minister of Finance, the Right-Sizing Committee was formed for institutional changes, and one of its tasks is to examine government postings in all of the ministries and institutions. The spokesperson claims that the cabinet adopted the committee’s findings, which suggest that up to 60,000 posts—including those from grades 17 to 22—may be considered excess.
