The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) successfully attacked the Indian Air Base at Pathankot in the evening of September 6, 1965. In barely twenty-three minutes, PAF Squadron No. 19 defeated Indian Air Force Squadron No. 23.
Starting at 5:30 PM, the action was directed at the Pathankot Air Base, which is situated 257 kilometers away from the Peshawar Air Base. The Indian aviation base was severely destroyed by 6:00 PM.
Thirteen Indian fighter jets, including seven MiG-21s, were destroyed on the runway by the PAF during the aerial confrontation. The PAF suffered no casualties, but the attack made Pathankot Air Base unusable for the duration of the conflict.
