Express Tribune said that people familiar with the matter stated that the federal government is anticipated to approve a plan for the establishment of “internment centers” for terror suspects in Balochistan.
Rumor has it that the government intends to give law enforcement, including the military, special powers that will allow them to hold terror suspects for three months without a court order or First Information Report (FIR).
Among the proposals was the establishment of special confinement facilities to house terror suspects in defiance of court rulings. These centers would be similar to those founded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, although the name perhaps differing.
This tactic has already been used in Swat, North and South Waziristan, and other tribal areas. Aiming for reintegration, several centers also run rehabilitation and deradicalization initiatives.
