Looking back now, it was a massive moment in my life even though it only lasted a few minutes.”
At the age of 17 years and 119 days, Weston created history in 2004 by being the youngest player to play in an FA Cup final.
It’s a record that still exists today.
At the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Millwall was down Manchester United 3-0 when Weston replaced player-manager Dennis Wise in the 89th minute.
It was his career’s second senior appearance.
Twenty years later, the veteran of more than 300 Football League games is getting ready to play in the FA Cup’s second qualifying round on Saturday (15:00 BST) for non-league Derbyshire club Mickleover against Anstey Nomads.
The 37-year-old midfielder Weston tells Sport that the second qualifying round is far, far away from the championship game.
Born in London, Weston grew up as a Manchester United supporter before turning 14 and joining Millwall.
They secured their maiden FA Cup final berth twenty years ago, beating maiden Division rivals Sunderland 1-0 in the semi-final at Old Trafford, before he had even made his senior debut.
Thirteen days prior to the championship game, Weston entered as a second-half substitute in the season’s last league game, a 1-0 victory.
