In a letter to the Practice and Procedure Committee, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of the Supreme Court of Pakistan voiced concerns about the recent creation of a new Ordinance Committee.
Justice Shah stated in his reply that the prior committee may have carried on with its work even after the ordinance was introduced, provided the Chief Justice conducted a thorough court review.
Given that Justice Muneeb Akhtar’s dismissal from the committee was carried out without cause, he questioned the need for the committee to be reconstituted so soon after the ordinance was passed.
Justice Mansoor declared unequivocally that he would not attend any more sessions unless the previous committee was reestablished.
