The 58-year-old musician repeated the untrue assertion that the vice president “is not black” in an interview that was published in the Guardian.
Jackson’s remarks were later described as inaccurate and “based on misinformation” in a statement purportedly released on her behalf.
Jackson’s manager, Mo Elmasri, was the source of the statement.
The statement, which was initially obtained by Buzzfeed, said as follows: “Janet Jackson would want to clarify her recent comments. She acknowledges that the information she used to make her remarks on Vice President Kamala Harris’ race was false.
Janet acknowledges Harris’s dual ancestry as Black and Indian and apologizes for any misunderstanding. She recognizes the value in Harris’s diversity and the significance of recognizing it in the modern world.
As far as News is aware, Jackson’s attorneys did not approve of the statement’s publication.
Her brother Randy is currently the singer’s manager.
Subsequently, Mr. Elmasri asserted that his “firing” was brought about by his “attempts to enhance [Janet’s] reputation before the public and her supporters.”
In a statement to the News, he continued to express his support for Ms. Harris.
