After fire alarms went off in the cockpit on Monday, the Fly Jinnah flight from Karachi to Lahore had to make an emergency landing at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.
A representative for the Civil Airport Authority stated that at 7:15 p.m., close to Lahore, the captain of a cargo airplane reported smoke in the cargo compartment and made a “mayday” call. However, at 7:23 p.m., the private jet made a safe landing at the airport.
According to the spokesperson, all passengers and crew safely departed via the aircraft’s emergency exit system, with the assistance of the airport authority’s Fire Department who responded to the situation on site.
At 7:57 p.m., the fire brigade pronounced the aircraft clear after an inspection. An investigation into the incident has been ordered by high ranking officials.
