The Sunday celebration was going to be a spectacular affair, complete with ballroom dance and music, a la Regency high society from the popular series.
However, guests’ complaints that it was a “scam” with shoddy decor, undercooked food, and merely a stripper for entertainment caused it to become viral on social media.
The event’s organizers, Uncle & Me LLC, told a local media site that they were trying to resolve concerns, but they haven’t replied to the request for comment.
Neither Netflix nor the production company Shondaland sponsored or had anything to do with the event.
Fans were urged to “step into the enchanting world of the Regency era at the Detroit Bridgerton-themed ball” in the event’s advertisement.
Come celebrate a sophisticated, elegant, and charmingly historical evening with us. Enjoy a unique evening full of dancing, music, and stunning costumes,” the description said.
Fans, however, are already demanding refunds after seeing images and videos of ladies browsing through their phones while sitting on the floor in their best clothes go viral on social media.
