Omar Khalid Hussain, a young golf star from Pakistan, made history by taking home the Fendrich Open trophy, making him the first player from his nation to win a golf championship on American soil.
In the $18,700 tournament in Evansville, Indiana, Omar, the only player from Pakistan to compete in NCAA Division 1, the top university sport in the United States, dominated a long list of pros with impressive scores of 61 and 65.
At the par-70 Fendrich Golf Course on Sunday, he shot a 36-hole total of 126 (-14), one stroke ahead of Illinois’s seasoned professional Zach Williams.
Omar finished at the top of the leaderboard on Saturday after making eight birdies and an eagle in the opening round.
