In light of the PTI’s plans to march toward Islamabad on Tuesday (tomorrow), the interior ministry agreed on Monday the deployment of Rangers in Rawalpindi and Attock at the request of the Punjab government.
To support the province administration in upholding peace and order, the Pakistan Rangers would have two wings stationed in each city. The deployment’s goals are to guarantee the region’s peace and security.
Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had earlier in the day said that his team planned to march to D-Chowk in Islamabad on Tuesday, or tomorrow, while Pakistan is hosting a Shanghai Cooperation Organization heads-of-government meeting.
“We are being forced to participate in this action [protest at D-Chowk in Islamabad] by the government because of the uncertainty surrounding our leader [Imran Khan],” he said.
