ISLAMABAD: Under the newly inked historic defense deal, Pakistan is not selling nuclear weapons to Saudi Arabia, according to Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, who emphasized that “we are responsible people.”
A decades-old security alliance was greatly strengthened on September 17 when Riyadh and Islamabad inked a “Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement,” which said that any attack on one country would be viewed as an act of aggression against both.
A week after Israel’s strikes on Qatar rocked the diplomatic balance in the region, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the agreement in Riyadh.
Several international media outlets conjectured that Pakistan’s nuclear program was included in the historic defense deal after it was signed.
