Pakistan’s Defense Minister, Khawaja Asif, stated on Tuesday that Islamabad would undoubtedly invite Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the regional summit as Pakistan prepares to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference in October of this year.
Given that both South Asian countries have a history of tense relations, especially because of the protracted Kashmir conflict, Asif made the remarks while speaking to a private news station amid rumors that PM Modi may not attend the forthcoming SCO summit, according to stories carried by various media sites.
A ministerial meeting and several rounds of discussions with top officials would take place before to the October summit, according to a July statement from the Foreign Office spokeswoman. These sessions would focus on promoting cooperation in areas like as finance, economics, socio-cultural affairs, and humanitarian activities amongst SCO member countries.
