ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: As the nation continues to experience extreme heat, authorities put out a second forest fire that broke out in Margalla Hills on Sunday.
Just one day has passed since firefighters in the federal capital contained flames in two different areas of the Margalla highlands.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon, however, reported that early today the fire broke out once more on the Margalla Hills section of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In addition, he mentioned that 36 firefighters took part in the firefighting operation and that Capital Development Authority (CDA) crews were on the scene to contain the fire.
According to the deputy commissioner, in order to prevent the flames from spreading to the federal city, officials installed a firewall.
He said that in order to put out the fire, the KP government and the Islamabad administration worked together.
Bushfires have occurred in the Margalla range, which is a portion of the Himalayan foothills, quite frequently throughout the summer.
There have been sporadic fire eruptions in the hills of Islamabad lately. Authorities have not yet confirmed if the flames are the result of arson or the high heat.
But according to the capital’s administration, three people were detained on suspicion of starting the forest fires on Friday.
