Introducing QuardLock: Passwordless Security Made Simple

CardLab’s QuardLock platform offers a new era in cybersecurity. It combines FIDO2 offline biometric fingerprint cards with a certified backend server for passwordless authentication. Fingerprint templates and private keys stay encrypted on the card and never leave it. This offline approach provides a hacker-proof layer of protection.

One Identity for Everything

QuardLock serves as a centralised identity platform, connecting users securely to devices, apps, servers, networks, and files. It can act as an authoritative directory or integrate with existing identity providers. Logical access to IT resources and physical access to buildings or restricted areas can all be managed with a single biometric smartcard.

Why Passwords Fail

Traditional passwords are vulnerable. Hackers can crack weak passwords in seconds, and remembering complex passwords is difficult. Even password managers or two-factor authentication systems can be bypassed through phishing or malware. AI and quantum computing only make passwords less secure.

The FIDO2/Passkey Advantage

QuardLock eliminates passwords by using FIDO2/passkeys with biometric verification. Public-key cryptography protects against phishing, session hijacking, and remote attacks. Authentication requires the physical card or device, and biometrics tie the access to the approved user. Transaction signing occurs offline, making attacks virtually impossible.

Zero-Trust and Adaptive Security

Every access request is validated using risk-based adaptive authentication. Suspicious attempts — such as unusual device, location, or timing — trigger additional checks. This zero-trust approach prevents phishing and protects critical data.

Compliance and GDPR Alignment

CardLab ensures strong authentication that aligns with GDPR and eIDAS requirements. Every action is documented, privacy is preserved, and users remain in control of their digital identity. Biometric smartcards support high-assurance authentication, offline use, and secure electronic signatures.

Single Sign-On for Convenience

Biometric smartcards allow passwordless login across Windows domains and the QuardLock portal. Users gain access to all approved applications, cloud, mobile, hybrid, or on-premise, with a single verification, improving productivity while maintaining security.

Quantum-Resistant Security

CardLab’s offline fingerprint verification and tokenisation reduce exposure to cyber threats, including quantum-computing risks. While full quantum-safe cryptography is still evolving, the system provides robust security today and a foundation for future-proofing.

Strengthening EU Digital Identity

QuardLock’s biometric smartcards integrate with the EU Digital Identity Wallet under eIDAS 2.0. The card acts as the master cryptographic authority, performing all biometric verification and cryptographic operations offline. Tokens replace personal identifiers, improving privacy, legal compliance, and cross-border interoperability.

Policy and Sovereignty Benefits

By decentralising trust and keeping critical credentials offline, CardLab reduces systemic risk, strengthens digital sovereignty, and ensures EU citizens maintain control over their identities. Tokenisation supports lawful attribute disclosure and secure de-tokenisation, aligning with EU law and GDPR principles.

The Bottom Line

CardLab’s biometric authentication solution provides secure, passwordless access, offline trust, GDPR compliance, and resilience against cyber threats. It bridges the physical and digital identity, protecting enterprises and individuals in an increasingly digital world.
